Some very speedy TTing, the inaugural East Grinstead Park Run and some very long endurance racing to tell you about this week!

The annual East Grinstead CC/East Sussex CA 25 mile TT took place a couple of Sunday’s ago on a cold and foggy morning on the Maresfield-Boship course. Ben Houston (58:45), Noel Miles (59:48) and Simon Powell (1:00:36) all placed top 30 in the Men’s event but pride of place goes to Emily McLoughlin whose 1:03:11 took 4th in the Ladies event just missing out on a podium place - well done all!

Michael Diebel reports a good turnout of EGTC members for the first EG Park Run at East Court including; Tom Lees, Dave & Karen Mycock, Tim Coogan, Kat Pearce, Georgina Chadd, Lance Quirico, Steve Osborne and Michael himself. A testing course as I understand and one we can all have a go at during Oktoberfest? (See below for details)

On that same Saturday myself and Mad Jackie completed the marshalls event for the LDWA Surrey Tops 50 mile walk - lovely day although we had a couple of navigation issues as it got dark and eventually did around 52 miles to finish at 12:40am on Sunday morning! However, that is as nothing compared to the feat performed by our South East Asia member, “Little” Dave Spence. He, and friends and support vehicle, have just completed the Triple 8 Project Challenge which involved a 444 km single stage road run across the Malaysian Peninsular immediately followed by a 444 km cycle back to the start line! Truly phenomenal! If you’d like to read more then click HERE;  Dave is over here late Sept - so lets hope we can meet up to congratulate him?

EGTC Oktoberfest 2017 is now completed - www.egtri.com/oktoberfest - for full details. As always we’ve tried to include some sessions where you might learn something or pick up tips and ideas as well as fun, social activities to while away the off-season? As always I’m grateful to those giving up their time to help and would ask that you support those events that you can? Friends and family are generally welcomed - particularly if you can persuade them to take up membership thereafter! The Outdoor Pursuits event on Sun 15 Oct will need to be pre-booked so either let myself or Emily Miles know if you wish to attend?

Can I also remind you to either enter or some offer to help at EG 10k on Sunday 24 Sep as well as at the EG Aquathlon on Sun 29 Oct? Both events rely on club support so please do what you can?

Please also make sure you have completed and returned the Club Questionnaire as the results will prove invaluable in shaping the future of the club as will the election of a new Chairman at the AGM on Sun 11 November - please read the informative note sent out by the current incumbent in this regard!

Finally, our brand new Awards Evening & Party Celebration takes place on Saturday 25th November and tickets can be purchased via the club website. Please support this new initiative for what promises to be a fun-filled evening - more details to follow!
