First place in the main sprint race was achieved by Luke Worthington, of Tri Surrey Club, in a highly impressive time of 1 hr 6 mins and 1 second. In second place overall, and first place in the V40 age group, was Jim Burdett of South London Harriers, coming in at 1 hr 7 mins and eight seconds.

Retaining her crown as female champ of the main sprint race was Catherine Linney, 7oaks Tri Club, who took 19th place overall with a time of 1 hr 14 mins and 32 seconds. In second place amongst the ladies, was Becky McNicholas of Epsom Tri Club, finishing in 1 hr 18 mins and 12 seconds.

Once again it was a pleasure to welcome a range of ages and abilities with many taking part in their first ever event, particularly those in the Ladies Try-a-Tri and the Youth Sprint. The Ladies Try-a-Tri was particularly hard fought with Joanne Bates scraping the win with a time of 46 mins 42 secs, just 12 seconds ahead of second placed Sophie Jones, who came in second at 46 mins and 54 seconds.

Perhaps a future contender for Team GB is Abi Crook, who took first place in the Youth Sprint in 49 mins and 35 seconds – great work Abi.

It goes without saying that most of us that train for Triathlon are doing so for personal challenges and goals. So a special congratulation to Hasan Uctas of Epsom Tri Club, who told us he was determined on cracking the top 100 this year, coming in at a highly respectable 98th.

Obviously no triathlon is complete without a simmering sibling rivalry. Bragging rights among the Phillips brothers, of Dorking and Mole Valley Athletic Club, were held by John who beat his brother by a whisker, just 39 seconds between them!

We’d like to thank you ALL for taking part and hope to see you next year. If you haven’t already checked your time you can do so HERE. We would also love to see your photos of the event so please send them to web@egtri.com.

If this year’s challenge was all about setting a time to beat next year, then why not join www.egrtri.com?

As we like to think we demonstrated on race day, we are a friendly, supportive club and welcome members of all abilities so would love to see you there.
